About this category
This award recognises an employee whose steady, behind the scenes work keeps an organisation running, and who rarely gets the thanks they deserve. Judges look for the difference the person makes and what would be missed without them.
Eligibility
Open to employees at any level in any role. Entries are usually made by a colleague or manager.

Additional criteria
Entries should include a short account of the contribution, supporting figures where they exist and, wherever possible, comments from colleagues, managers or customers. An employee can be put forward by anyone who has seen their work, or can enter themselves. Nothing in an entry is shared beyond the judging panel, and customer or colleague names can be left out. Judges consider the size of the organisation and the nature of the role, so a cleaner, a driver or a care worker competes on equal terms with a head office professional.
